Climate change is no longer a threat that might impact us in a distant future: we are already experiencing the impact of climate change with major flood, drought, heat waves and bushfires devastating different regions of our country, and unfortunately it is only going to get worse.
Towns and cities can use data to better prevent, prepare and respond to natural disasters. This includes for example knowing where vulnerable communities are living, knowing location of areas at risk and providing response teams with real time situational awareness data such as rivers water level and hyperlocal heat information.
The below examples illustrate how some of our towns and cities are using data to increase their resilience to climate shocks and stresses.
